In 2023, the Center for Strategic Enterprise Development (CSED) unveiled the CSED Business Institute (CBI), a transformative initiative driven by extensive industry research on the business and human capacity requirements of Micro, Small, and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria.

This strategic move by CSED involves collaboration with diverse entities in both the private and public sectors, with the aim of disseminating strategic intelligence, knowledge, and skill sets to MSMEs and individuals across Africa.
The CBI curriculum is structured to offer a comprehensive educational framework, comprising three distinct pathways tailored for business owners and their workforce:
- Business Executives Program:
This program is designed to provide business owners with insightful and practical training in growth engineering. It also encompasses Performance Optimization courses for employees and sustainability/fundraising strategies tailored for nonprofit executives. The holistic approach of this pathway ensures that it addresses the multifaceted needs of businesses, from strategic growth to optimizing performance and sustaining nonprofit endeavors.
- Experts-led Short Programs:
This pathway delivers quick-entry strategies, sustainability courses, and growth insights across various industries. What sets these programs apart is their unique feature of being led by full-time practitioners and industry leaders. This not only grants entrepreneurs access to insider intelligence but also establishes a foundation for long-term advisory support. The intersection of practical expertise and theoretical knowledge positions participants for effective and sustainable growth.
- Technical, Vocational Education & Training (TVET):
Recognizing the evolving demands of industries, CBI's TVET pathway focuses on providing strategic skills training. Covering a spectrum of fields including technology, fashion, beauty, leatherwork, glass fabrication, paint formulation, aviation, and automobiles, this pathway ensures that participants acquire skills aligned with current industry requirements.
